Meticulous design, thin, greyish sides, and great density of information. The design of telephone books fascinates me and is my first source of inspiration for my book in terms of content and form.

During a stay at the Alpenhof in Oberegg in the Canton of Appenzell, Switzerland, 23 students of the fachklasse Grafik lucerne collect 46 books and 230 pictures. Back in Lucerne, I developed a layout with this material. The book is clearly divided into a beginning, middle and final part. In the middle part, the book is denser, while in the beginning and end, there is more white space. Some design elements are inspired and derived from the classic telephone book, among them the heart of the book, the listing of data from 46 books in the middle section.

Minuziöse Gestaltung, dünne, gräuliche Seiten und eine große Dichte an Information. Die Gestaltung von Telefonbüchern fasziniert mich und diese sind darum die erste inhaltliche und formale Inspirationsquelle für mein Buch.

Während einem Aufenthalt im Alpenhof im Kanton Appenzell (CH) sammeln 23 Studierende der Fachklasse Grafik 46 Bücher und 230 Bilder. Zurück in Luzern habe ich mit diesem erarbeiteten Material ein Layout entwickelt. Das Buch ist klar sichtbar in einen Anfangs-, Mittel- und Schlussteil aufgeteilt,. Im Mittelteil ist das Buch dichter. Im Anfang- und Schlussteil hingegen ist mehr Weissraum vorhanden. Einige Gestaltungselemente sind vom klassischen Telefonbuch inspiriert und abgeleitet, beispielsweise das Herzstück des Buches, die Auflistung der Daten von 46 Büchern im Mittelteil.
